Saralyn Kassel receives

District Award of Merit

 

          Saralyn Kassel receives the District Awards of Merit at the June 10th District Picnic held at the Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company.  As a youth she was a founding member of the Venturing Officer’s Association. Saralyn has staffed Venturing Leadership Skills Course for numerous years including serving as VLSC Course Director in 2004.  Additionally, she has worked at Camp Ware in 2004 and 2005. 

As an adult, Saralyn has served on staff for PLDC as well as for YLT for approximately 6 years. She has also staffed Venturing Leader Specific Training, BALOO Training several times. She has organized and ran the Cub program for 2 Council Camporees, staffed at least 1 Klondike Derby as well as staffed the Special Needs Camporee for the past 7 years.

Saralyn helps out with all aspects of Venturing as a Mentor and as a Consultant. She has been instrumental in helping organize and get new crews started.  She runs Youth Protection Training for Crews in Diamond Rock & Horseshoe Trail Districts on a yearly basis.  In addition to all this, she serves as the Assistant Scoutmaster in charge of Troop 73’s first year program.  She possesses a fantastic temperament and training ability to keep the new scouts interested and also moving along in their scouting careers.  Her ability to bring along the Troop Guides and Troop Instructors is also outstanding and she is an indispensible and irreplaceable member of Troop 73’s leadership.
